Competition Database

The Bloomberg Trading Challenge is exactly as it sounds… it happens over the fall semester and allows students in teams of up to 5 to register (along with a faculty advisor). Trades must be long only, cannot be leveraged, or be in ETFs. Therefore students will need to consistently come up with new ideas and execute them consistently. Access to a Bloomberg terminal is also a must. Our recommendation is that you talk to us before registering for this, as we can help with finding a faculty advisor and navigating Bloomberg.

Bloomberg Trading Challenge - Fall Semester

Online

Federal Reserve Challenge - September 28

First Round: Video | Finals: In Person (Washington D.C.)

Rather than pitching an equity, teams will focus on identifying a key macroeconomic problem and present a resulting solution. This is a complex competition and only allows one team per university (5 per team). As a result, if you want to compete, present your idea before registering.

WITG x Fundamental Edge International Stock Pitch Competition - October 8

First Round: Video | Finals: In Person (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

This is your traditional stock pitch, pick a stock above $1Bn in Market Cap. and either go long on it or short it. Teams can be across the different universities, ranging from 2-4 members. The first round consists of sending an executive summary (feel free to ask us for help)! Our recommendation is that this is a great pitch to start with, but expect heavy competition!

Harvard Pitch Competition - October 14

First Round: Online | Finals: In Person (Boston, Massachusetts)

This competition (albeit difficult) is a good introduction to what a stock pitch competition is and how one works. The constraints allow a team to focus on the quality of the content itself rather than brainstorming creative equity ideas.

Undergraduate Investment Conference (UIC) - October 27

First Round and Finals (by invitation): In Person (Ann Arbor, Michigan)

Hosted by the University of Michigan, the Undergraduate Investment Conference is a great opportunity for students to interact and network with legendary investors and professionals from top financial firms. To participate in this competition, each team (2-4 members) needs to submit a one-pager in a PDF format by October 1 at 11:59 p.m. Invitations to the first round will be sent out later in the coming days.

Farallon Case Competition - November 16-17

First Round: Online Submission | Finals (by invitation): In Person (San Francisco, California)

Farallon Capital is a hedge fund headquartered in San Francisco, California. All sophomore case competition participants (Class of 2026) will be considered for a Summer 2024 investing internship position and selected selections will advance to the interview process. Registration opens on October 5 and interested participants must attend the Kick-Off Webinar on the same date. The deadline to register and submit case study/stock pitch is November 1 and finalist teams will be invited to pitch their case to Farallon investing professionals at their San Fransisco headquarters. Contact the AIC officer team to learn more and register for webinar!

SouthEastern Hedge Fund Challenge - January 31, 2024

First Round: Online | Finals: In Person (Atlanta, Georgia)

The SouthEastern Hedge Fund Challenge is a competition where students devise a strategy for investing as opposed to enacting an individual stock pitch. Teams must be comprised of a faculty advisor and 4 students. Our suggestion would be to leave this to Juniors and Seniors (or equivalent in AIC). This competition focuses on strategy and coming up with innovative new ones, therefore an understanding of different ones along with their pros and cons is imperative.
